Bobinsana: The Heart-Opening Plant of the Amazon
Share
If Noya Rao is the light of the Amazon, Bobinsana is its heart.
Along the rivers of the Peruvian rainforest grows a graceful shrub with feathery pink flowers that look like silk brushes: Calliandra angustifolia, known throughout the Amazon as Bobinsana. Among the Shipibo and Mestizo healers I trained with, Bobinsana is one of the most beloved master plants: the great teacher of the heart.

A Plant That Lives Between Water and Earth
Bobinsana grows right at the edge of rivers and streams, with her roots in the water and her flowers in the sun. During the rainy season she is often completely flooded, and she simply bends, holds on, and blooms again when the waters recede.
This is exactly what the maestros say she teaches: emotional flexibility. The capacity to stay rooted while the waters of emotion rise and fall. To bend without breaking. To bloom again after every flood.
What Bobinsana Is Known For
In the Amazonian tradition, Bobinsana is the plant of:
- The open heart: softening grief, old wounds, and emotional armor
- Creativity: many artists and musicians diet Bobinsana to unlock creative flow
- Connection: with other people, with nature, with oneself
- Emotional healing: gently bringing buried feelings to the surface, where they can move
- Dreams: Bobinsana is known to make dreams more vivid and tender
She is considered a gentle teacher, often one of the first plants a person diets, but her gentleness should not be mistaken for weakness. The heart work she invites can be some of the deepest work there is.

Bobinsana in the Shipibo Tradition
In Shipibo curanderismo, Bobinsana is dieted to develop shinan, the strength of heart and intention. Healers diet her to become more compassionate in their work, artists to find their voice, and many people simply to learn how to love themselves and others with less fear.
Her spirit is described as a feminine presence: warm, welcoming, sometimes playful. Where some tree dietas are austere and demanding, Bobinsana meets you like a friend.
Working with Bobinsana Essence at Home
A Bobinsana essence is a gentle way to begin a relationship with this plant without traveling to the Amazon. The essence carries her energetic signature and is taken in drops, with intention.
People typically work with Bobinsana essence to support:
- Heart-centered meditation and self-compassion practice
- Periods of grief, heartbreak, or emotional transition
- Creative projects: writing, music, painting
- Dreamwork (a few drops before sleep, with a journal by the bed)
- Couples and relationship work: softening communication
Like all my essences, every bottle of Bobinsana is prepared fresh upon order, from plants harvested sustainably with the communities I work with in Peru.
- Bobinsana Essence (30ml): the single essence
- Love & Light Bundle: Bobinsana with Noya Rao, Blue Lotus and Mucura
- Divine Feminine Flowers Bundle: Bobinsana with Blue Lotus, Wachuma Flower and White Rose

Frequently Asked Questions about Bobinsana
Is Bobinsana psychoactive?
No. Bobinsana is not a psychedelic plant, and a Bobinsana essence is a vibrational preparation that contains no psychoactive compounds. It is legal to own and use.
What does Bobinsana feel like?
Most people describe the work with Bobinsana as a gradual softening: emotions flow more easily, dreams become more vivid, and there is a growing sense of warmth toward oneself and others. It is subtle, cumulative work, not a sudden effect.
Can Bobinsana help with heartbreak or grief?
In the Amazonian tradition, this is exactly what she is known for. Many people seek out Bobinsana during periods of loss or emotional transition. (An essence is a spiritual support, not a substitute for professional help when that is needed.)
How is Bobinsana traditionally prepared?
In the Amazon, the bark and roots are prepared as a decoction for dietas. The essence I prepare is a different, gentler form: a vibrational extraction that carries the plant's signature for daily spiritual practice.
Can I combine Bobinsana with other essences?
Yes. Bobinsana combines beautifully with Noya Rao (light + heart) and Blue Lotus (heart + meditation). That is exactly why these plants are together in the Love & Light Bundle.
