In Amazonian Curanderismo the sacred space opens to the Eight Directions: the four cardinal and the four intermediate points, the eight winds that hold the Medicine Wheel. Each direction holds a teaching, and each teaching has its Master Plant.

The Eight Directions gathers the eight foundational Master Plants: the ones every curandero keeps as the base of their work. This is not a kit like the others: it is the essential core, the foundation from which those who walk the Path of the Plants set out and to which they return.

SHIHUAHUACO | Dipteryx Micrantha

One of the giants of the forest. Masculine spirit, an amazing protector and teacher. Teaches grounding, centering, focus, and consistency. Also a teacher of cleansing and limpias, and a remarkable ally for anyone involved in shamanic work.

UCHU SANANGO | Lobo Sanango | Tabernaemontana Sananho

Considered the head of all the sanango medicines, prepared from the inner root bark. Uchu means "spicy" in Quechua, and its taste is indeed very hot. It is said to raise the spiritual heat and help purify the mind of toxic energies. Rare and precious, carried through generations of sanangueros who still keep its lineage alive.

MUCURA ANAMU | Petiveria Alliacea

Known for its powerful properties, it helps to cleanse and purify body, mind, and spirit on an energetic level. Promotes grounding and inner peace. Its energetic cleansing helps release negative energy and emotions, opening the way to greater clarity and insight.

AYAHUMA | Couroupita Guianensis

Also called the Cannonball tree, with big ball-shaped fruits and colorful flowers. The Ayahuma spirit is said to have no head. This plant is all about connecting with feelings, sensations, and intuitions in a deep shamanic and intuitive way.

CHIRIC SANANGO | Brunfelsia Grandiflora

One of the most powerful plants I have ever met. A remarkable teacher that can accompany you to transmute and realign the mind and your beliefs at a completely new level. On the spiritual and mental plane it offers the chance to break the chains of the mind and evolve. Very active on dreams and intuition. A deep and powerful plant: approach her with respect and presence.

HUAYRA CASPI | Cedrelinga Catenaeformis

One of the giants of the forest. Its spirit is Pure Light, an amazing protector and teacher. Its name means "the plant of the wind", so it is deeply connected to the Air element. Its teachings center on being Love, Clarity, Bliss, and centering in the Heart, helping to establish a strong connection with our deepest nature and with all beings.

BOBINSANA | Calliandra Angustifolia

Feminine and loving energy. Grows near rivers, deeply connected with water. Helps connect to creativity, love, compassion, and flow with nature itself. Lets the flower blossom inside and opens the heart.

NOYA RAO | Palo Volador

In Shipibo means "the one that flies". Its energy is neither masculine nor feminine, but a pure form of light and love: if a Buddha could be a plant, it would be a Noya Rao. The leaves glow in the dark with a natural bioluminescence and help you open your consciousness to your inner nature, inner peace, devotion, and love. By far one of the most mystical and legendary plants of the whole Amazon, worshipped by the Shipibo tribe as the most sacred plant of all.

How to Work with These Essences

These are plant essences for external, ritual use. Work with them with intention, as part of your meditation, ceremony or daily spiritual practice.
